Submissions to the Free Press

What’s Appropriate?

The Democratic Free Press is interested in posting thought-provoking information, viewpoints, and ideas about political, governing, and public policy matters. We seek to include a wide variety of topics and diversity of viewpoints as well as to reflect what’s on readers’ minds. To that end we encourage potential authors not to constrain themselves to whatever the “grand” issues of the day might be.  Whatever one reader finds curious, interesting, or important is undoubtedly thought of in the same way by many other readers. We also welcome submissions that bring to our readers’ attention interesting items published elsewhere on the Internet that readers might otherwise not see.

One of the tasks of the Free Press editors is to assist authors with their copy. Items submitted will thus undergo common copy editing (spelling, grammar, formatting, paragraphing, etc.) prior to posting.  If for some reason substantive editing seems to be in order then an editor will discuss that with the author as appropriate. The maximum desired length for any post is 600 words.
